HASSAN: A 19-year-old youth died after he slipped and drowned in a river while taking a selfie. The deceased has been identified as Nagendra.
Nagendra, who worked as a promoter at a private gold jewellery store, had gone to Haluvagilu village with his friend Manjunath after work. The two friends were enjoying the scenic view of the flowing water when Nagendra decided to take a selfie standing in the water. He, however, slipped and fell into the water.
Manjunath tried to rescue him, but was unsuccessful. The police and fire department conducted a search till Sunday evening. They returned and resumed the search for Nagendra on Monday morning when they found his body.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Hassan Rural police station.
