The car toppled after running over ragi spread on the road.

MANDYA: A 19-year-old youth died and another occupant was seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling overturned after losing control on a road where ragi (finger millet) had been spread for drying. The incident occurred near the Food Park at Ashoka Nagar in KR Pet taluk.

The deceased driver Prajwal (19), from P B Manchanahalli village, was with a relative, Kavya, who is seriously injured. The car overturned due to the ragi on the road, causing fatal head injuries to Prajwal. A case has been registered at KR Pet Rural police station.

In another incident, a tipper lorry fell into a quarry pit in Jataka Gate in Nagamangala taluk, killing the driver on the spot, around midnight on Friday.

The quarry, operated by Ravi and Kanta, had been excavated into a deep pit. The accident occurred when the tipper lorry fell into the pit around night, and the driver, Lakshman, drowned in the water.

Fire and emergency services personnel conducted a rescue operation and retrieved Lakshman’s body on Friday morning. The Bellur police are conducting further investigation.
