Youth brutally assaulted by group for travelling with Muslim coworker, hospitalised

SHIVAMOGGA: A Hindu youth, who was going on a two-wheeler with a Muslim co-worker was waylaid and brutally assaulted by a group of Muslim youths. The incident occurred near Seegehatti on May 1, but has come to light only now.

Nandan and the Muslim woman were going on his motorcycle on work when some Muslim youths, who noticed this, waylaid them. They took Nandan into a timber yard and assaulted him brutally.

Nandan was later admitted to the McGann hospital where MLA Channabasappa inquired about his health. The Doddapete police have registered a case in this connection.

In another incident, a minor Muslim youth attacked a customer at his mutton stall at Tipu Nagar in the city on Monday over a minor dispute.

Mallesh (45), a resident of Gadi Koppa tanda had gone to the mutton stall to make a purchase. When he asked the 16-year-old boy at the stall to add some more meat to the purchase, the minor refused.

Angered by this, Mallesh tried to hit the boy when the latter attacked him with a machete. Mallesh sustained serious injuries on his left shoulder and was admitted to McGann hospital. The minor was taken into custody and a case has been registered at the Tunganagar police station.
