HASSAN: Instances of drug abuse in the open are increasing in Hassan with youngsters choosing isolated locations to consume narcotic substances. Not only that, drugs are also allegedly being sold at bars in the city.
A video of some youths injecting themselves with drugs inside the water tank compound at Chikkanalu had gone viral some days ago. Youths have also been spotted doing drugs near the Ayisha Masjid in Adarsh Nagar, a dilapidated house and at the LPG godown of Pushpagiri Gas.
In another instance, the cashier at a bar was caught on CCTV camera supplying drugs to some youths. The youngsters are openly abusing drugs in broad daylight and getting hooked to it, locals say. They have also questioned the inaction of the police and have called for a strict crackdown on drug peddling.
