BENGALURU: A bike rider allegedly assaulted a young woman passenger after an argument over rash driving. The rider, Suhas, slapped the woman, Shreya, who fell on the ground after the blow. A bystander recorded the incident, and the video has gone viral.

But when the police reviewed the CCTV footage, it revealed that Shreya assaulted the Rapido bike rider with a bag before he reacted.

According to Shreya, she booked the Rapido ride around 10 am and had an altercation with the rider at 10:30 am. She claimed the rider was taking a wrong route, driving rashly and not following traffic rules. When she asked him to follow the location map, the rider got aggressive and slapped her, she claimed.

Shreya suffered injuries to her hand and filed a complaint with the police and Rapido’s customer care.

However, the rider, Suhas, has a different version of the incident. In a video statement, he alleged that Shreya was the one who initiated the physical altercation and used abusive language against him. He claimed he has been riding Rapido for 5 years and added that she hit him with a tiffin box and abused him in English when he took a shortcut.

Suhas stated that he retaliated in anger and later reported the incident to Shreya’s store manager, who allegedly described her as “psycho”. The Jayanagar police have registered a non-cognizable report and are investigating the incident.
