BENGALURU: Close on the heels of the gruesome murder of West Bengal native Mahalaxmi in the city, another young woman was murdered at a hotel in Indiranagar. The victim is Maya Gogoi, who hailed from Assam.
The accused is Maya’s boyfriend Aarav Hanoy and the police have gathered crucial information in the case. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Aarav stayed with his girlfriend’s body the entire night, smoking cigarettes. The accused, who had spent two days with his girlfriend, murdered her and then left the hotel room around 8:20 am the next morning.
The CCTV footage from the hotel shows the accused leaving the room. The police suspect that the accused had planned to dismember the victim’s body, but did not carry out the plan. Instead, he left the hotel and went to the Majestic railway station. He then switched off his mobile phone and escaped.The police are searching for the accused, who is suspected to have escaped to Kerala.
The victim, Maya, had informed her sister that she would be late as she had a party at her office. Her sister resides in HSR Layout with another person. She had sent a message to her sister on Saturday, saying, “she is not coming to the room where the party was held today”. It was learnt from Maya’s sister that the killer, Aarav, and Maya had been in love for 6 months.
The accused, Aarav Hanoy, had brought an old knife with him to the hotel. He had also ordered a nylon rope online. He killed her according to his plan.
Two special teams have been formed to track down the accused Aarav Hanoi under the leadership of the Indiranagar police station inspector. The accused escaped and switched off his mobile and had hired a cab after the murder. The police have collected information about the cab in which the accused escaped. They have examined the CCTV footage and collected information about the cab.
Aarav Hanoi and Maya Gogoi had met through social media only a few months ago. They had checked in at a service apartment in Indiranagar on November 23. The accused was in the apartment from Saturday till Tuesday morning.The victim’s post-mortem examination has been conducted and the police will hand over the body to the family members.
