Young man’s leg crushed after he tries to get off train before it stops, dies

TUMAKURU: A young man died after his legs were crushed on the railway track at Tumakuru railway station. The deceased has been identified as Chayank hailing from Ammasandra in Turuvekere.

On Monday morning, the young man had arrived at the station by the Push-Pull train. The incident occurred when he tried to get off the train before it could stop. His bag had got stuck in the train’s handle and both his legs were cut in the accident as the train ran over him.

As per railway rules, the area is restricted to the public, and no one came to his aid. The young man was searching for his phone while writhing in pain, lying on the track, to call his family for help, but couldn’t find it. Despite there being a hospital nearby, it is alleged that the police delayed taking him to the hospital by about 25 minutes. Eventually, the young man succumbed at the scene due to the delay in receiving medical attention.
