BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath seems unwilling to go a round of the city on a two-wheeler to assess the condition of roads. Public TV offered to take him around the city, but he declined.
“We will support your campaign. We will fix the problems wherever you do a reality check. Show us where there is a problem and we will attend to it, don’t worry”, was all he had to say.
Despite several deadline, potholed roads remain in the city. The BBMP had promised to fix all potholes by June 6 and had identified 10,000 potholes through the Fix My Street app. Later on, another 2,000 potholes were added to the list and the Palike said it will need 3-4 more days to fill them. But despite several deadlines and notwithstanding the rap by the high court, the roads remain in bad shape.
Officials claim that the quality of roads cannot be checked repeatedly after asphalting. Though crores are spent on fixing roads and potholes, nothing has changed on the surface for Bengalureans who are left to put up with bad roads and risk their lives and limbs.
