MYSURU: Mysuru-Kodagu BJP MP Yaduveer Wadiyar has sought a prohibition on taking photos or selfies in front of Dasara elephants at the Mysuru palace premises.
He was speaking about the recent fight between elephants Kanjan and Dhananjaya within the palace premises. He emphasized that the incident was serious and reportedly caused by human actions. Wadiyar urged officials to take stringent measures to enhance security.
Regarding Mahisha Dasara celebrations, Yaduveer said that as long as they don’t harm anyone or violate constitutional rights, people should be allowed to observe their traditions. According to the Constitution, there is no problem with doing it in public places. “A programme can be done in such a way that no one gets harmed. No one can stop it. It can be celebrated in such a way that it does not hurt the feelings of all those who have faith in Chamundeshwari”, he felt.
Question regarding, the district administration to allow flower offerings to the Mahishasura statue on Chamundi Hill, Yaduveer said, “That is Chamundeshwari’s land. Let the district administration take action on this”, he said.
He warned the Mahisha Dasara Committee that they should not tamper with the customs, faith, significance, and religious traditions. “As responsible representatives, we have conveyed to the authorities what the heritage of the hill is and our beliefs”, he said.
He said that the authorities should take appropriate action so as not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
