YADGIR: The Yadgir district administration on Saturday denied permission to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to hold a route march in Gurmitkal town, sparking controversy.

The RSS had planned to hold a roadshow in Gurmitkal town on Saturday as part of its centenary celebrations. However, the district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar, denied permission to the RSS, citing that the application was not submitted within the required timeframe.

The RSS had submitted an application to the Deputy Commissioner on October 23, requesting permission for the roadshow. However, the tahsildar of Gurmitkal, Shantagouda Biradar, had asked the RSS to obtain permission from the competent authority, which was not done.

The RSS had already held route marches in several other towns of Yadgir district, including Surpur, Shahpur, Hunasagi and Yadgir city, without any issues. The denial of permission for the Gurmitkal roadshow has sparked speculation and criticism from RSS leaders, who have expressed disappointment and dismay over the administration’s decision.

The RSS had made all necessary preparations for the roadshow, including putting up banners and mobilizing its workers. However, the administration’s decision has put a spanner in the works.
