Y S D Datta to contest polls independently from Kadur constituency with ‘shawl’ symbol

CHIKKAMAGALURU: Congress leader Y S V Datta, who recently shifted from the JD(S), but was denied a ticket, has announced that he will be contesting from Kadur  Assembly constituency as independent candidate. Datta held a ‘self-respect meeting’ with his supporters before taking the decision. He also requested for financial support by spreading his shawl on his shoulder towards meeting election expenses said that the ‘shawl’ will be his symbol.

Y S V Datta’s supporters pressured him to contest from Kadur as independent candidate after he was denied a ticket from the Congress. His supporters and followers donated a Rs 2 lakh cheqeue and assured him that they will give more money if he needs financial support.

Addressing his supporters, he said, “I have no money, no caste, but I have people’s support. I have no property, but I love everyone. I had said that there should be no caste politics, let’s do politics with love”.

Some of his supporters gave money at the venue. A huge road show was held on National Highway-206 before the meeting. About 4,000 people participated in the procession.
