KALABURAGI: Aland Congress MLA B R Patil, who had created a storm after he reportedly wrote a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on corruption in transfers, has written another letter to the CM seeking a probe into certain issues raised during the previous Assembly session. He has also threatened not to attend the upcoming winter session of the legislature in Belagavi.
Patil said that he had sought a probe into the substandard work carried out by the Karnataka Road Infrastructure Development Corporation (KRIDL) in his costituency several times with the minister concerned, but it was not done. “Hence, I raised the issue in the Assembly during the previous session. But, instead of the minister concerned, Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda replied in the House and spoke accusingly about me. He alleged that I took money for awarding the works and I had protested against the remark, but no one stood with me”, he pointed out.
Patil said, “I have lived with self respect and hence, I demand that a high-level probe be ordered into the charges levelled by Krishna Byregowda. Till then, I will not attend the Assembly. I wrote to the CM as my self respect has been hurt”,
Patil is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru today. The MLA is upset over not being given a ministerial position. IT/Bt Minister Priyank Kharge has also ignored his request to order a probe into the KRIDL works undertaken in 2017 and minister Krishna Byregowda had made insinuation remarks against the MLA on the floor of the House. The Congress leadership in the state is now in damage control and a meeting of the rebel MLAs will be held in Bengaluru today along with the CM later today.
