VIJAYAPURA: Women who underwent tubectomy were forced to sleep on the floor at the taluk government hospital in Muddebihal on Wednesday while 4-5 women occupied two beds joined together in the ward. However, the hospital authorities claimed that it was due to the large number of patients.
Hospital medical officer Anila Kumbar said a room was provided for the attendants of the women and a mat was spread on the floor. “But the women, after undergoing tubectomy, opted to sleep in that room with their family members. We have only 20 beds in the hospital”, she said.
However, questions are being raised over why so many women were called on the same day for the surgery when the hospital lacked adequate facilities. The families of the patients have vented their anger at the hospital authorities and locals have also demanded action.
