Woman techie killed by speeding Merc, driver caught by locals and handed over to police

BENGALURU: A 30-year-old woman techie was killed by a speeding Mercedes-Benz car while waiting to cross the road in Kengeri on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Sandhya.

West Division (Traffic) Deputy Commissioner of Police Anitha Haddananavar stated that Sandhya was hit by the car while she was waiting to cross the road and succumbed to injuries despite being rushed to the BGS Hospital.

The driver, Dhanush, attempted to flee but was caught by locals and handed over to the Kengeri traffic police. The car was registered under LB Travels, owned by Dhanush’s father.

Dhanush, a 5th-semester BE student, was driving from Bengaluru towards Mysuru Road with three friends after a party. The accident occurred around 9 pm on Saturday near Jnana Bharati campus. Police investigations revealed that Dhanush was drunk and speeding.

After the car hit Sandhya, it hit another two-wheeler rider. The rider, Sayyed, was also injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The police took the car driver to Victoria Hospital where his blood sample was collected.

Techie Sandhya died in the accident while going home after work. Drunken driving at high speed was the cause of the accident. The Kengeri traffic police have registered a case and are investigating further.
