Woman techie arrested for hoax bomb calls to Bengaluru schools and colleges after being spurned

BENGALURU: A woman techie, who threatened to bomb schools and colleges in Bengaluru after being spurned by her boyfriend, has been arrested by the police. The main accused is Reni Joshilda, a software engineer, who is currently being questioned.

The accused had sent a bomb threat email to a public school in Bengaluru. On June 14, a bomb threat call was received by the school in the Kalasipalya police station area. A case was registered, and the police commissioner transferred the case to the Cyber Police Station, North Division.

The accused was using a VPN address and the internet to send threats. She had obtained a virtual mobile number from an app called Gate Code and was managing around 6-7 WhatsApp accounts. She was arrested in Gujarat and brought to Bengaluru for further interrogation.

During questioning, it was revealed that she was involved in six other cases, including bomb threats to schools in Bengaluru. She has also been involved in similar cases in Gujarat, Mysuru and Chennai. The accused had sent bomb threats to around 6-7 schools in Bengaluru and also threatened to bomb the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The accused had been rejected by her boyfriend, and she wanted to put him in trouble. She had sent the bomb threat emails using his email ID. She had been pressuring him to accept her proposal, but he had rejected her. Due to this, she sent bomb threats in his name.

The police are currently questioning the accused and investigating the case.
