BENGALURU: A woman, who was at a weekend party with friends at a hotel in Kundalahalli, suffered serious injuries after jumping from the balcony while fleeing from a police raid in HAL (EACS) Layout. The woman sustained severe injuries to her head and body and is currently admitted to a private hospital in Kundalahalli where she is battling for life.
Eight friends, including the woman, had organised the party on Saturday night. They had booked three rooms for the party. Afterwards, the youths and the young women were playing music and dancing. On seeing the party and the dancing, local residents informed the police. A few minutes later, Hoysala police raided the hotel.
When the police arrived, the young woman, who had gone to the balcony, panicked and jumped from there. She fell on to an iron grill and suffered serious injuries. Her friends then took her to the hospital.
When the Hoysala staff entered the hotel after learning about the party, a video of the party was shown and a complaint was filed. Later, a youth, Pavan, alleged that the police had demanded money from them. When the youths said they would pay via PhonePe, the police reportedly refused online payment and insisted on cash. Pavan said he would go to an ATM to get cash and the woman jumped from the balcony as he was leaving the hotel. An FIR has been registered based on the complaint lodged by woman’s father Anthony Raj at the HAL police station. Police have visited the place, conducted an inspection, and launched an investigation.
An FIR has also been registered against the hotel owner in connection with the incident. The complaint, filed by the young woman’s father, states that the hotel’s balcony lacked safety measures and the management was negligent.
