BENGALURU: A woman stabbed her PUC-going daughter to death with a knife and herself sustained injuries in a fight between them over the daughter being negligent in studies. The incident took place in Shastrinanagar, Banashankari.
The deceased daughter has been identified as Sahitya (19) while her mother Padmaja is being treated at a hospital. Sahitya was studying PUC, but she was not going to college regularly of late. She even skipped writing an examination recently.
An argument broke out between mother and daughter over her negligence in study on Monday morning. The angry Padmaja allegedly stabbed Sahitya with a knife and the daughter struck back in the melee, but she died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.
A neighbour somehow got information about the incident and rushed them to the hospital, where the doctor declared that Sahitya dead. Her mother Padmaja is undergoing treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh B Jagalasar said, “The incident took place at 7.30 am on Monday. The mother and a daughter were living in the house. They fought each other for some reason and got injured in the attack, as per Padmaja in her statement before she was admitted to the hospital”.
A case has been registered at the Banashankari police station.
