BENGALURU: The Kengeri Police arrested a woman and her son in connection with the brutal murder of her mother, from Kolhapur in Maharashtra on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Shantakumari and the accused are her daughter Sasikala and grandson Sanjay. They were arrested five years after the murder.

Gobi Manchurian

The elderly woman, Shantakumari (70), was living with her daughter and grandson in Kengeri Satellite Town, and she was very orthodox. Once, Sanjay had brought gobi manchurian from a roadside shop near his house, and when he offered it to his grandmother, she threw it in his face, complaining that it was not home-made food.

Sasikala, Sanjay, and Nandish were arrested in connection with an elderly woman’s murder case.

Enraged by this, Sanjay beat her with a rolling pin and she died due to excessive bleeding. The mother-son duo lived with the body in the house for three days and then buried the body inside a cupboard using chemicals sourced from his friend Nandish. They then plastered the cupboard with cement.

The duo stayed in the same house for six months. When the foul smell became intolerable, they vacated the place. Six months later, Shantakumari’s skeleton was found in the cupboard when the house owner took up repair work.

Kengeri police station

A case was registered in Kengeri police station in this connection and the police had arrested Sanjay’s friend Nandish in 2017 itself. They had been unable to track the killers for five years, but recently managed to trace them to their current residence in Kolhapur from where they were arrested.
