CHITRADURGA: A woman allegedly sold her two-year-old child for Rs 50,000 in Hiriyur town. She has since been arrested and the authorities are making efforts to locate the child.
The incident came to light after locals reported the child missing for several days. Following this, District Bal Bhavan officer Manjunath visited the scene and later lodged a complaint against the mother Aishwarya at the Hiriyur police station.
Aishwarya had an illicit relationship with Chandrappa of Hoovinahole village and allegedly sold the child to a person from Koppal with his help. A case has been registered against Aishwarya at the Hiriyur police station and she is in police custody.
Chandrappa is on the run and police are searching for the buyer of the child and investigating the case.
