Woman passenger dies as lorry crashes into autorickshaw at Coffee Board junction

BENGALURU: A young woman died after a lorry crashed into the autorickshaw she was travelling in, near the Coffee Board traffic signal on Raj Bhavan road in the wee hours on Saturday. The victim was identified as Shalini.

The woman had hired the autorickshaw through the Namma Yatri app and was travelling from Chinnappa Garden in Benson Town to Majestic. At the Coffee Board junction, the lorry, carrying steel rods, jumped the traffic signal and collided with the autorickshaw driven by Imran. The auto driver, miraculously, escaped death.

The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle (KA 01 B 9385) on Raj Bhavan Road and fled the scene. The Cubbon Park traffic police visited the spot and shifted the body of the victim to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem examination.
