BENGALURU: A woman passenger assaulted a BMTC driver with her footwear in Bengaluru for not stopping the bus at her desired location, an unscheduled stop.
The incident took place in the bus (KA 57, F 0836) that was plying from Tin Factory to Electronics City on June 11. When the bus reached near Kaikondarahalli on Sarjapur Road at 8.40 am, the passenger, Kavya, a software engineer, asked the driver to stop the bus near her office on Electronics City Road, even though there was no designated stop.
The driver, Athar Hussain, didn’t stop the bus due to traffic congestion, which led to the passenger getting agitated. She allegedly abused the 42-year-old driver, hit him with her footwear, and used abusive language at him.
A complaint has been registered at the Bellandur police station under sections 121, 131, 132, and 352 of BNS.
