DAVANAGERE: A woman, who was on her way to attend the funeral of her younger sister, died after a recklessly driven can crashed into the motorcycle she was travelling on, near Jigali village in Harihar taluk on Friday.
Neelamma (70) of Haralahalli village was travelling to Jigali village on a relative’s motorcycle to attend the last rites of her sister Kambali Chennabasamma (68), who had died of natural causes. A car (KA 14 MA 0209), driven recklessly by Arun Kumar of Bhadravati, crashed into the motorcycle, resulting in Neelamma’s death on the spot.
The family members first conducted the last rites of Chennabasamam at Jigali and later organised the funeral for Neelamma at Haralahalli. The Malebennur police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
