RAMANAGARA: A woman and her boyfriend were arrested for murdering her two children in Ramanagara district.
The accused are Sweety (24), and her boyfriend, Gregory Francis (27). The victims were identified as Kabila (2) and Kabiran (11 months).
According to police, accused Sweety was married and had two children, but she had recently eloped with her boyfriend Francis. The couple had been living in a rented house in Manjunath Nagar in Ramanagara.
The investigation revealed that the couple smothered the two children to death with a pillow in a gap of 15 days, as they believed the children were an obstacle to their extra-marital relationship. They then performed the last rites at a crematorium in Ramanagara.
When questioned by the police, the couple initially claimed that the children had died due to illness. However, the crematorium’s security guard grew suspicious and informed the police, leading to uncovering of the crime. A case has been registered at the Aijur police station, and further investigation is under way.
