BELAGAVI: A woman killed her debt-ridden husband with the help of her mother in the district. The murder came to light after the post-mortem report pointed to unnatural death.
The accused Renuka and her mother Shobha had conspired to murder her husband Vinayak Jadhav (48), a businessman and a resident of Peeranwadi area in Belagavi. They killed him on July 29 by strangling him with a rope and smothering him to death with a pillow.
Jadhav was a businessman, who suffered losses and was heavily in debt. He had left Belagavi three years ago due to harassment by financiers. On the night of July 29, Jadhav returned home drunk and had a fight with his wife. That time, his wife and her mother killed him and then threw his body in front of their house.
On the next day, they both pretended before neighbours that Jadhav was drunk and sleeping. However, Jadhav’s brother Arun suspected foul play in the death and filed a complaint with the police.
The police investigation revealed that Renuka and Shobha had planned and executed the murder. The police have now arrested them.
