UDUPI: A woman and her boyfriend have been arrested for killing her husband by allegedly suffocating him in Ajekar in Karkala taluk of the district.
The accused wife is Pratima (34) and her boyfriend is Dilip Hegde (28). The victim is Balakrishna Poojary (44). Pratima had a friendship with Dilip Hegde of Karkala. Therefore, they plotted to kill Balakrishna.
Balakrishna had been suffering from illness for 25 days, undergoing treatment for typhoid at various hospitals in Karkala Rotary, KMC Hospital Manipal, Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru, and Nimhans in Bengaluru. However, he died on August 20.
Prathima’s brother filed a complaint with the Ajekar police station, suspecting foulplay in Balakrishna’s death. During investigation, Prathima and Dilip admitted the crime, revealing they mixed poison in Balakrishna’s food and then suffocated him to death using a bedsheet.
The Ajekar police arrested Dilip from Hirgana village and Pratima from Ajekar.
