BENGALURU: A woman, who hired an Uber bike taxi suffered severe head injuries in an accident and is currently in a coma, battling for her life in the hospital. The incident occurred on September 9 when the woman, Manjula, hired an Uber bike taxi to go to work.
The bike rider is 19-year-old Dharmi Chand Shirvi. While going towards Mahadevpura, he was riding the bike recklessly towards Kartiknagar and she fell off the bike on to the Road. She suffered severe head injury and locals admitted her to a private hospital in Doddanekundi.
Manjula’s brother, Muniswamy, has filed a complaint with the Mahadevapura police station. Muniswamy expressed concern about the lack of accountability and regulation of bike taxi services, stating that the bike rider showed a lack of concern and accountability, telling the family that he couldn’t do anything about the accident.
The family is demanding that the government take action and implement regulations to prevent such incidents in the future. Muniswamy said, “We request the government to bring a law to address this issue. My sister is fighting for her life, and someone needs to be held accountable”.
