CHIKKABALLAPUR: A newborn baby girl found dead on the footpath in a pathetic situation sat Rampatna Circle in Gudibande town on Friday.
In the morning, when civic workers clearing garbage in Ward No. 9, they found the baby in a pool of blood. At first, they thought that a monkey had died, but later realised that it was a newborn baby girl.
The civic workers and some locals who saw the newborn girl informed the Women and Child Welfare Department, the Health Department and Gudibande police station. The officials visited the spot on receipt of information.
Police suspected that the unidentified pregnant woman may have given birth to a stillborn girl child and fled from the scene later.
