YADGIR: A pregnant woman delivered her baby on the floor at the entrance of the Government Mother and Child hospital late on Sunday night, allegedly due to the negligence of nurses.

Chand Bi, the pregnant woman, went to the hospital in severe labour pain and her husband Nawaz brought it to the attention of the hospital staff. But no one attended her. Later, she gave a birth to a baby boy with the help of other women in the hospital.

Chand Bi and her baby are healthy after she delivered in a critical situation.

After her delivery, the staff of the hospital came to attend to her and arranged a bed for the patient’s further treatment. Municipality president Suresh Ambigar, who took note of the indifferent attitude of the hospital staff towards patients, has raised the issue with the local authorities.

Suresh Ambigar, president of the Yadgir Municipality, he has never seen such negligence by nurses.

Suresh Ambigar said, “There were only two staffers at night at the hospital to attend to emergency patients. The hospital management seemed indifferent when I brought it to their attention. None of the doctors came to treat her till 9 am. I have complained to District Health Officer also, But no action has been taken yet”.

Nawaz, the husband of Chand Bi claimed that none of the nurses attend his wife who was in labour.

Nawaz claimed, “None of the staff came to attend to my wife, though I kept requesting them for half an hour. My wife was forced to birth on the hospital floor. If the nurses arrived in time, it would be more helpful. Fortunately, both the mother and child are healthy”.
