A woman hailing from Kerala was allegedly gangraped by two youths near Neeladri Nagar in Electronics City late Thursday night. The issue came to light only on Tuesday.

The woman, who works as a freelancer with a private firm in BTM Layout, booked a Rapido bike around midnight to be dropped off from Udupi Garden in BTM Layout to Neeladri Nagar in Electronics City Phase-2. She was heading to meet her boyfriend and was apparently under the influence of alcohol at that time.

The accused have been identified as Shahbuddin and Akhtar.

On the way, she felt drowsy and asked for cigarettes when the rider stopped at a shop. When his UPI payment did not work, he called his friend asking for some money. When the friend asked why he needed the money, the rider told him that his passenger was drunk and wanted cigarettes. That is when the duo planned to rape her.

The rider and his friend, Shahbuddin (26) and Akhtar (24) then took her to his room where they allegedly raped her. The rider’s girlfriend was also present there at that time.

The Electronics City police have arrested two people.

When the woman came to her senses, the duo let her off while warning her not to disclose about the rape to anyone. The woman later lodged a complaint with the Electronics City police who have arrested the duo and also the girlfriend of the main accused. A case has been registered.
