Woman found dead under suspicious circumstances at rented house in Belur

HASSAN: A 34-year-old woman named was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her rented house in Belur, Hassan district.

Spandana, originally from Mallenahalli village in Chikkamagalur district, had been living alone in Belur for the past eight days after separating from her husband.

The body was discovered when locals noticed the door of her house open for two days and informed the police. Upon investigation, the police found Spandana’s body in a naked state inside the house.

A case has been registered regarding the death under suspicious circumstances, and the police, and the dog squad and forensic team, have visited the spot. The Belur police are investigating further.

“I had taken a copy of her Aadhaar card and she said her sister and brother-in-law would join her. I had told her that an advance of Rs 10,00 would have to be paid and the rent would be Rs 3,000 per month. She gave me Rs 3,00 and said her sister and brother-in-law would give the remaining amout in two days”, said house owner Mallikarjun.

“Someone saw the door of the house partially open and informed me after which I went there. I saw the woman lying on the floor in a semi-naked state and rushed to the police station. She had claimed that the was working as a nurse”, he added.
