KOLAR: A 40-year-old woman, identified as Mala from Bellur village in the taluk, was found brutally murdered, with her head smashed with a stone, beside the national highway near Cheluvanahalli on Wednesday.
Mala had left home around 6 am saying that she would visit a temple at Bayikonda in Andhra Pradesh, but was later found murdered. While it was initially suspected that she may have been knocked down by an unidentified vehicle, the police, who visited the spot, confirmed that it was a murder.
The police and family members suspect that the murder might be linked to a personal relationship, given that Mala was a widow. Further investigation is under way to identify the killer.
