BENGALURU: A fight between three women over a trivial reason led to one of them, who was pregnant, losing her child. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Govindaraja Nagar police last week.
The pregnant woman Jayasheela’s husband Sagar runs a two-wheeler garage next to a hotel run by Shankar, his wife Padmamma and daughter-in-law Kavya. On February 11, a quarrel broke out between them and Shankar lodged a complaint aganst Sagar after which they visited the police station and reached a compromise.
However, a couple of hours later, Padmamma and Kavya accosted Jayasheela and her husband when they were walking along the road near Sangamithra Women’s College in Subbanna Garden and pulled Jayasheela by the hair and punched her in the stomach despite knowing that she was pregnant.
Jayashree developed abdominal pain and was rushed to a hospital immediately. However, three days later, she developed intense pain and the doctors delivered the baby which had died in her womb. Following this , Jayashree registered a case against Kavya and Padmamma in Govindaraja Nagar police station. An FIR has been registered in the case and the police are investigating.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Girish S said, “The neighbours fought over a trivial issue and the pregnant woman was apparently kicked in the abdomen. A week later, the pregnant woman delivered, but suffered a miscarriage. We are awaiting the post-mortem report. We have registered an FIR and taken up further investigation”.
