BENGALURU: Film producer Lakshmi Venkatesh, who produced superhit Sandalwood films in the 80s and 90s, has stopped producing films under her banner of late. But now, she has approached the police after someone who had created a fake address, fake cheques and forged her signature without her knowledge, to sell the rights to her films.
The incident has come to light only now. The films produced under the banner of Guru Mamatha and Mamatha Movies, have been shared on YouTube, OTT platforms and other social media platforms without her knowledge, Lakshmi Venkatesh claimed and filed a complaint at the Sadashivanagar police station.
When Lakshmi Venkatesh tried to sell the internet rights of films including ‘Gandugali Rama’, ‘Ganeshna Mahime,’ and ‘Mallige Sampige’ to agents, they informed her that she had already sold the rights and showed her the documents.
Upon investigating the social media platforms, Lakshmi Venkatesh was shocked to find that her films were being shared without her permission. She has lodged a complaint against A N Jagadish, Purushottam and Rasool, alleging that they cheated her out of over Rs 1 crore. She has requested the police to take legal action against those involved.
