BENGALURU: A widow, who later married a police constable, has filed a complaint against him for domestic violence, harassment and extramarital affair at the High Grounds police station.

The woman had lost her husband and a court had issued summons to the accused in connection with the husband’s case. In 2019, the woman went to the Seshadripuram police station to give a copy of the summons. Then, constable Manoj had taken her phone number. The policeman, who had not contacted her personally until 2024, had messaged the woman a few months ago asking her to send him a photo of hers. He had sent a message saying, ‘I love you’, as soon as she sent the photo.

Manoj had promised to marry her and had even registered their marriage on November 28, 2024. However, after the marriage, he allegedly started harassing her and making demands for dowry. Manoj’s family members had also allegedly harassed the woman, saying that he would have received a dowry if he had married someone else. They also taunted her about having two children from her previous marriage.

The woman has alleged that Manoj would often be busy on his phone and would assault her when she questioned him about it. When she checked his phone, she found videos and photos of him with other women. When she confronted him about it, Manoj allegedly assaulted her again, breaking her hand.

An FIR has been registered against Manoj, and the police are investigating the case.
