BALLARI: A woman fan of jailed actor Darshan created a scene outside the Ballari central prison on Thursday with the jail staff insisting that she wanted to meet the actor.
Lakshmi, who hails from Kalaburagi, is working in Bengaluru. She travelled to Ballari to meet the actor who is facing trial in the Renukaswamy murder case. When Lakshmi was told that only relatives are allowed to meet the actor, she said she had come prepared to marry the actor.
“I like Darshan very much and I am prepared to be his wife. Darshan has only one wife, Vijayalakshmi. I want to meet him in jail and talk to him. They didn’t allow me to meet him in the Parappana Agrahara prison. I will not budge till I see him. I want to become his blood relative”, she said.
Questioning why Darshan was shifted to Ballari from Bengaluru, Lakshmi asked, “Who doesn’t smoke or drink these days? In cities, even young women do these things. Otherwise, ban cigarettes and alcohol. Darshan was only trying to protest a woman’s dignity”, she said.
The woman fan said she had brought fruits for the actor and, if given a chance, she would also bring chicken and mutton dishes for him. The woman fan had earlier tried to meet Darshan at the central prison at Parappana Agrahara in Bengaluru. After much persuasion, the Ballari jail staff and police managed to convince her and sent her away.
