RAICHUR: A 20-year-old woman died on the spot and her sister was seriously injured in a collision between a scooter and a car near the DC Bungalow in Raichur city on Saturday. The sisters had gone to meet their grandfather to offer Banni on account of Vijayadashami.
The deceased has been identified as Saakshi, and her sister Sanjana is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.The sisters had gone to their grandfather’s house to distribute sweets, Banni, and were returning home when the accident occurred.
As they were crossing the road, a speeding car rammed into their scooter from behind, near Basaveshwara Circle. Saakshi, who was riding pillion, fell on the car’s bonnet and died on the spot.
Sanjana, who was riding the scooter, suffered serious injuries. The car driver fled the scene, leaving his vehicle behind. A case has been registered at the Raichur traffic police station.
