RAMANAGARA: A woman, who was seriously injured in an accident and had been undergoing treatment, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Soundarya Aras (20) of Kudur village in Channapatna taluk.
Soundarya, a housewife, who was riding a two-wheeler, was hit by a speeding bike on the road in front of CPT Garden in Channapatna on August 24 and sustained serious injuries.
She was admitted to the Aradhya Hospital in Bidadi, where she was declared brain dead. The family members had already paid a bill of Rs 7 lakh for one and a half months of treatment. But the hospital authorities asked them to pay remaining amount of Rs 9.50 lakh to release the body. The village leaders discussed this issue with former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
The former CM immediately called the head of the hospital and promised to pay the balance of the bill. Later, the hospital authorities handed over Soundarya’s body to the family members.
