DHARWAD: A 24-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by coming under a moving train near Shivagiri in Dharwad city on Wednesday. She was a resident of D Kaggal village in Ballari district and had been staying in Dharwad for the last three months, preparing for competitive exams related to government jobs.

Pallavi Kaggal had completed her BCom and was preparing for various competitive exams. She had previously cleared the physical test for a police constable position, but failed the written test.

Her family claims she was facing health issues and had been upset due to family problems. A death note found near her body mentioned health issues and family conflicts, but did not mention about stress related to finding a job. The woman’s body was sent to KIMS for post-mortem examination.

Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashikumar stated that the investigation is ongoing, and it appears to be a case of family problems rather than job-related issues.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the hospital, he said, “The loco pilot of the Rani Chennamma Express train noticed the body around 6 am on Wednesday and informed the authorities. The Railway Police immediately shifted the body to the mortuary after videography. Pallavi had come under a train and the Railway Police have registered a case of unnatural death. The death note clearly mentions the reason for her death as familial, health and personal issues”.

Pallavi’s father Ultheppa Kaggal, a farmer, said, “She had come to Dharwad in September and had health issues and there were some domestic issues. She had come to Dharwad to continue attempting competitive exams and had completed her BCom. She was also good at studies”.
