MADIKERI: A woman and her daughter from Bengaluru, who had checked into a homestay at Madikeri, were allegedly harassed by the caretaker in the wee hours on Sunday, demanding that they open the door. An FIR has been filed against the caretaker Praveen a.k.a Kumar, owner Kaverappa and another unidentified individual.

The mother-daughter duo had travelled from Udhagamangalam to Madikeri and checked into the Eshwara Nilaya homestay. The caretaker Praveen, who was allegedly drunk, kept repeatedly banging on the door from 2 am to 4 am asking the daughter to open the door. Scared, the duo remained inside.

Angered that they did not open the door, Praveen allegedly deflated the tyres of the woman’s car. “This was one of the worst experiences of our lives. The homestay owner did not even respond to our calls”, the woman told the police.

On Sunday morning, the woman lodged a complaint with the Madikeri Town police, who visited the spot. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is under way.
