Woman crossing Bengaluru-Mysuru highway killed by speeding vehicle, locals vent anger

Locals gathered at the spot where a woman was crushed by a speeding vehicle on Thursday night.

MANDYA: A woman, who was crossing the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway near Hanakere village died after she was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Yashodamma (50) of B Gowdagere village.

Yashodamma was hit by a speeding vehicle as a result of which her body was badly crushed. Locals have been demanding the construction of an underpass at the spot where Yashodamma died, but nothing has been done so far.

Local residents vented their anger saying the woman’s life would have been saved if an underpass had been constructed. They also got into an argument with the police following which Police Superintendent Mallikarjun Baladandi pacified the villagers and the body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
