In order not to raise suspicion, Deepti had replaced the gold ornaments with fake gold. When the mother got suspicious, she questioned Deepti as only the mother-daugher duo lived in the house. She then lodged a complaint with the police against the daughter. The love angle came to light during questioning by the police.

The stolen gold had been pledged with Muthoot Gold Loan and Mannapuram Gold finance companies and splurged the money. The Amruthahalli police have recovered the gold and further investigations are on.
