MADIKERI: A young woman was killed by an unidentified man with a sharp weapon at Nangala village on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Arati (24), daughter of Buttiyanda Madappa.
A helmet, phone and sandals belonging to one Thammaiah, and a poison bottle were found at the scene of crime. A motorcycle was also found at some distance, but Thammaiah is absconding. The reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained.
It is alleged that Thammaiah had been torturing her for the last three days. He may have consumed poison mixed with alcohol to kill himself, police suspect. The Virajapet police are on the lookout for the accused.
