Woman, 2 children washed away by overflowing tank water after rain in Aurad village

BIDAR: A woman and her two children were washed away after water from an overflowing tank washed them away at Hedagapur in Aurad taluk on Sunday evening. Their bodies were found on Monday morning by the rescue teams about 1 km from the place where they were swept away.

A tank in the village was overflowing.

Sunanda (45) and her two children Sumit (11) and Aishwarya (16) were returning along with her husband from their fields after work when they were washed away. However, the husband swam to safety. A tank had breached after heavy rain on Sunday.

The bodies were found about 1 km from the place where they were swept away.

The police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel launched a rescue on Sunday evening, but could not locate the three. On Monday morning, when the rescue efforts resumed, the bodies of the three were found about 1 km from the spot where they were washed away.
