Winter sets in early, medical experts warn of health issues

BENGALURU: This year, the winter season seems to have arrived earlier than usual, with higher humidity levels than normal. This will adversely affect the health of individuals. Medical experts say there is a need to take some precautions during the winter and take care of children and elders to prevent seasonal disease.

According to the Meteorological Department official, S Patil, most of the state is already experiencing weather change, with a predicted 2 degree Celsius to 3 degree Celsius drop in temperature until December and January. He also advised people to be careful because of the change in weather that will affect people’s health.

According to Dr Prasad, a medical expert, “Children may experience cold, fever and other health issues due to the cold weather. Respiratory problems like asthma and breathing difficulties may also increase”.

Precautions :

Stay warm: Wear warm clothing and drink warm water to keep body temperature up.

Prevent respiratory issues: Cold weather can exacerbate respiratory problems like asthma and breathing difficulties.

Consult a doctor: If you show symptoms of illness, consult a doctor promptly.

The BBMP has also advised citizens to take necessary precautions and has instructed health officials to take preventive measures.

Special Commissioner Vijay Kishore said, “We have directed the surveillance department to be prepared for seasonal diseases”.
