HASSAN: A wild elephant met with a tragic end on Tuesday after falling into a pit at Gitanjali Estate in Halekere village of Sakleshpur taluk.
The owner of the coffee plantation had dug a trench to prevent wild boars from entering. Unfortunately, the 10-year old elephant which came in search of food, fell into the pit and died.
Forest Department officials and veterinary doctors visited the spot.
