BENGALURU: The case of suicide of BJP leader Anantharaju in Byadarahalli seems to be getting curiouser by the day. It has now been revealed that his illicit affair of about six years came to light only three months ago.

On Tuesday, the police grilled his wife Suma for about four hours. During the questioning, Suma is learnt to have told the cops that she and Anantharaju fell in love and got married.

“About six years ago, Rekha befriended Anantharaju on Facebook and this developed into an affair. Thereafter, he started coming home late and always gave the excuse of party meetings and party work, whenever questioned. I came to know about the affair three months ago and I felt cheated as I loved him. I did shout and curse him as I was angry, but I would not kill him”, she said.

After coming to know about the affair, Suma met Rekha and warned her against pursuing it. However, it did not stop. She also could not give convincing answers regarding the audio conversation between her and Rekha.

The police also have some doubts regarding Anantharaju’s signature on his death note and the letter he had written to his bank. Both letters have now been sent to the FSL for authentications.

As regards Anantharaju’s clothes which he was wearing on the day of his death, Suma told the police that she burnt them at the graveyard during the last rites on the advice of her aunt that it is a bad omen to keep those clothes at home.

The police hope to get more leads in the case once they get tje post-mortem and the FSL reports.
