CHITRADURGA: Adding a new dimension to the controversy surrounding the Murugha Mutt of Chitradurga, whose seer has been accused of sexual abuse, a four-and-half-year-old girl, identified as ‘Chiguru’, was found in the residential school  of the mutt in the Chitradurga. Details about the parents of  the child are not yet known, according to social activist Madhu.

A four-year-old girl child was found at the Murugha Mutt residential school

Madhu claimed that he had brought it to the notice of the Child Welfare Committee and the district administration. Following this, the Child Protection Unit issued a press advertisement on Friday seeking to locate the parent of the child. Madhu has also demanded an investigation into the issue.

After the first POCSO case has registered against the Murugha mutt seer on August 26, all the children in the residential school were shifted to the Government Residential School and Bal Mandir for safety reasons.

Madhu questioned the local authorities saying, “Why did they not present the child to Madilu? Had they kept the child at the residential school? It is suspected that there many children kept illegally at the mutt. Even after so many developments, why have the authorities not taken any action so far against the mutt management ? This has given rise to more doubts, especially after a fresh case was registered against the seer on Friday”, he said.
