SANGAREDDY: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday said that the party will implement its six guarantees in Telangana if it comes to power adding that the grand old party is known for keeping the promises.
“Do you remember who formed Telangana? Sonia Gandhi did…Sonia Gandhi fulfilled the wishes of the Telangana people. But the party that is ruling today betrayed Sonia Gandhi…You should remember that Congress played a big role in the formation of this state and without Sonia Gandhi this would not have been possible. What we promise we deliver, Cong will implement its 6 guarantees in Telangana,” Kharge said.
He further said that we have fulfilled four of five guarantees in Karnataka. And we will soon implement the fifth guarantees.
Coming down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kharge said that instead of giving 18 crore jobs in the last nine years, BJP is distributing certificates for a mere 3,000-4,000 jobs.
“Instead of giving 18 crore jobs in the last nine years, BJP is distributing certificates for a mere 3,000-4,000 jobs. They are ruining the future of the country’s youth,” Kharge said while addressing a rally in Telangana’s Sangareddy on Sunday.
Earlier in September, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi listed out six guarantees by the party once it comes to power in the state including houses for all homeless, Rs 4,000 old age pension, Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for all women, gas cylinders for Rs 500, free bus travel for women and Rs 10 lakh health insurance, besides several other things.
Congress on Friday released its second list of candidates, comprising 45 names, for the Telangana state Assembly polls scheduled to take place next month.
The party has fielded former India cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin from Jubilee Hills seat while Madhu Goud Yaskhi has been fielded from Lal Bahadur Nagar.
In the previous Assembly election in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats. (ANI)
