BENGALURU: With the issue surrounding the obscene videos, allegedly involving NDA Hassan Lok Sabha candidate Prajwal Revanna snowballing, the JD(S) is likely to suspend him from the party even as the Congress held protests in different parts of the state demanding strict punishment. The JD(S) has called for a core committee meeting on Tuesday to take a decision.
Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy said, “It was decided yesterday itself to suspend Prajwal Revanna from the party. If someone has committed a mistake, then it is a mistake. I will speak further on this issue after the SIT submits its report”, he said.
After the FIR was registered against him, Revanna, in his first reaction, question, “What is the point in filing a complaint after 4-5 years? This is all a conspiracy. I won’t run away and I’m not afraid. I will face the issue legally. I will not respond regarding the complaint lodged against me. The government has formed an SIT, let them investigate”.
“Prajwal Revanna’s foreign tour was predecided. I did not know that an FIR would be filed. If they call for an investigation, he will also come. This sort of conspiracy against the Deve Gowda family is not new. We have faced many such investigations. The COD investigated Deve Gowda. I have not discussed Prajwal’s issue with him. Let the law take its course”, said Revanna.
A FIR has been filed against JD(S) leader HD Revanna (A1) and son Prajwal Revanna (A2) in connection with the case at the Holenarasipur Nagar police station. The case was registered under Sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC on charges of sexual harassment, intimidation and outraging the dignity of a woman.
As per the complaint registered by the former domestic help, the victim has claimed that both Revanna and Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulted her. The complainant further claimed that when Revanna’s wife was not home, he touched her inappropriately and used to sexually assault her.
Meanwhile, Prajwal Revanna, who left the country on Saturday, and his father H D Revanna on Monday approached the Karnataka High Court through their lawyers seeking to quash the FIR filed against them.
On the other hand, five of the victims appeared before Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar, who is part of the SIT probing the case, and recorded their statements. Senior police officers later met DG&IGP Alok Mohan and briefed him.
