BENGALURU: With heavy rain lashing the Western Ghats, the inflow into several rivers has increased while there have been reports of landslips, tree falls and house collapse in different parts of the state.
In Belagavi district, the Malaprabha, Ghataprabha, Hiranyekshi rivers are witnessing heavy inflow and the famed Gokak Falls is in full splendour.
The water level at the Basava Sagar Dam in Raichur district has risen to 491.02 metres against a maximum of 492.25 metres. With the water level expected to rise in the Krishna river, the NDRF teams are on alert.
Due to heavy rain in the Cauvery catchment area, the inflow into KRS Dam in Srirangapatna taluk has also increased and those living along the banks have been issued an alert as more water could be let into the river. The water level in the dam is now at 116.94 feet against a maximum of 124 feet. The inflow is 33,602 cusecs while the outflow is 3,624 cusecs.
At the Harangi reservoir in Kodagu district, the water level was at 2,854.54 feet against a maximum of 2,859 feet. The inflow was 12,644 cusecs while the outflow was 11,940 cusecs.
In Hassan district, the water level at the Hemavathi dam was 2,913.60 feet against a maximum of 2,922 feet. The water level increased by two feet in just one day with inflow at 16,660 cusecs.
